Jeffrey "OneShot" Wong Ranma 1/2: The contrary jewel Note: This is a fanfic derived from the OAV "The curse of the contrary jewel" If you haven't seen that OAV, then I suggest you see it before reading on. (We are in front of the Nekohanten. It is a beautiful early summer morning. The store hasn't opened yet, but is about to. The camera pans in to show us the interior of the store. Inside, Mousse is busy confessing his love towards Shampoo) Mousse:(Leaps forward to hug Shampoo) Shampoo:(Punts Mousse out an open window) (Mousse goes flying out through the window and lands in the garbage heap that was placed there. After a few moments, we see Mousse's head pop out of the rubble, covered in garbage) Mousse:(Shouting towards the Nekohanten) (A pot of water flies through the widow and hits Mousse right in the face, water splashing everywhere, especially on Mousse) Mousse(Duck):Quack!(Thinking)Just great! Now I have to find some warm water to change back. I know! Ranma and Akane will change me back!(heads for the Tendo's house) (Inside the Nekohanten) Shampoo: (We are at the Tendo's house. In the backyard, Ranma and Genma are sparring. Akane is watching from inside because there was nothing better to do. Kasumi is in the kitchen, getting ready to cook breakfast. Everyone else is sleeping. As the battle rages on, Ranma is clearly having the upperhand, easily dodging and countering Genma's attacks. As Akane languidly watches them fight, she notices a duck walk into the backyard through the side gate. She realizes that it's Mousse once the duck stops in front of the back porch) Akane:Mousse, what are you doing here? Mousse(Duck):Quack! Akane:(Turns towards Kasumi)Kasumi, can you please go fetch a pot of warm water and some clothes? Kasumi:(Happily)Sure thing, Akane.(Heads into the kitchen) Akane:(Turning back to Mousse)Let me guess....Shampoo kicked you out again because you told her you loved her again. (The duck nods) Akane:(Sighs and silently says to herself)I wish ranma was like that. (Kasumi comes out of the kitchen with a pot of warm water) Kasumi:Here you go, Akane. One pot of warm water and some clothes.(Hands pot and clothes to Akane and heads back into the kitchen) Akane:Thank you, Kasumi. (Akane takes hold of the pot and gently pours the warm water on the duck, covering her eyes so she won't see him naked. After his transformation, Mousse quickly takes hold of the clothes Akane has in her other hand, and puts them on.) Mousse:Thank you, Akane. Akane:Mousse, don't you ever get tired of having Shampoo do this to you? Mousse:............ Akane:Does she do this ever time you tell her you love her? Mousse:Yes, she does. Akane:Why don't you give her a present, like a brooch? Instead of telling her, maybe you should show her. Mousse:(Coming up with a better idea)I know! I'll put the reversal jewel on her! Then her hatred towards me will turn into unconditional love! Thanks, Akane!(Runs out the side door, heading towards the Nekohanten) Akane:I don't think that was what I meant. Ranma:(Sitting down next to Akane)Meant what? Akane:Ranma, you're finished already! Ranma:Uh huh. I tripped Pops into the pond. Genma(Panda):(Coming up to the two, soaking wet) Ranma:Admit it, Pop. You're losing your edge.(Points to Akane)Even a tomboy like Akane here could beat you. Akane:Ranma...no...BAKA!(Punts Ranma into orbit) (We are now in front of the Nekohanten. The store is now open. Mousse is in front and about to enter. The camera tilts upward to show us Ranma soaring high through the sky above Mousse. After Ranma disappears in the far off distance, the camera pans back onto Mousse) Mousse:(Talking to himself)Okay, Mousse. All you have to do is find the reversal jewel in that old goul's room, and put it on Shampoo. That shouldn't be too hard.(Enters) Shampoo:It about time Mousse get back. It time to work.(Hands Mousse a broom)Mousse start sweeping. Mousse:(Softly to himself)Tonight....tonight I'll look for the reversal jewel(Starts sweeping) (It is now late at night and the Nekohanten is closing. Mousse is making her final rounds of sweeping in the dining area while Shampoo is busy sweeping away in the kitchen. We watch Mousse take quick glances at the kitchen.) Mousse:(Thinking)Now's the best time to go find the jewel before Shampoo finishes cleaning. (Mousse quickly places the broom to one side and rushes up the stairs located near the back of the room, making no noise as he climbed the steps. We watch Mousse stop in front of Shampoo's room and hesitate for a moment, contemplating on whether or not he should continue on. After a few moments, Mousse decides to press on and opens the door. He enters Shampoo's room. Inside, Mousse seems to be overcome with the thought that he was in Shampoo's bedchambers.) Mousse:(Heart racing)Now where's that jewelry box? (Mousse quickly searches through one of Shampoo's dresser draws and luckily finds the jewelry box, which was buried underneath several layers of clothes. Taking out the box, Mousse places it on top of the dresser and opens it up. Inside, there were many jewels of all kinds of assortments. Quickly, he fumbles through the jewelry, picking them out and placing them aside. After a few moments, he picks up a green brooch that had a smiling face engraved in it. Mousse looks at it for a moment before he turns the brooch upside down. The brooch now looked like it had a angry face on it.) Mousse:(To himself) Shampoo:(Heard from downstairs) (Mousse quickly picks up all the other jewels and puts them in the jewelry box, putting the reversal jewel in his pocket. He then closes the box and puts back in the dresser draw, hiding it back under a layer of clothes. Once that was done, Mousse quickly rushed out of Shampoo's room, and then into his own room. Inside, he opens one of his dresser draws and hides the brooch under a layer of his own clothes, pinning it to one of his robes so he won't drop it and break it when he tries to take the robe out. He decides that its best to pin it on the fold of his sleeve. Once the brooch was pinned on, Mousse closes his draw and rushes out of the room.) Mousse:(Thinking)I'll put the brooch on her tomorrow. (Mousse silently laughs to himself as he heads down the stairs. Unfortunately, he accidentally trips on his robe and ends up falling down the stairs, landing hard on the floor right in front of Shampoo's feet.) Mousse: Shampoo:(Throws a broom at Mousse and heads back into the kitchen) Mousse:(Starting to sweep again)I'll make you love me, Shampoo. Just wait till tomorrow. (It is the next day. We are inside the Nekohanten where we see Mousse finally waking up. We watch him stretch for several minutes before getting out of bed. We watch as he languidly walks up to his dresser draw and take out one of his robes. We realize that the robe Mousse just took out is the same robe Mousse stuck the reversal jewel on yesterday. Mousse doesn't realize it. He puts the robe on and heads out of his room for downstairs.) Shampoo:(Hands Mousse a broom) Mousse:(Heads out) Shampoo: Mousse:(Turning back around)I don't know. As long as it's away from you (Turns back around and leaves) Shampoo:(Angry) Mousse:(Runs away) (Shampoo watches as Mousse runs of into the distance. There's a very confused look on her face. She doesn't know what just transpired. Little does she know that Mousse is wearing the reversal jewel. Little does Mousse know that he's wearing it. Figuring Mousse was made for making him work late last night, Shampoo continues on with her chores, assuming Mousse will realize what he's done later on and come back and apologize.) Shampoo:(Talking to herself) (We are in front of the Tendo home. from the sounds we hear, we realize that Ranma is in the backyard sparring with Genma. We see Akane come into the scene, finished with her morning jog.) Akane:(Panting)Man, what a great jog.(Hears Ranma)Wow, Ranma's actually up early for a change. (Akane opens the front gate to go in but stops when she hears her name from across the street.) Mousse:Akane. Akane:Mousse, what're you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be working on opening up the store around now? (Mousse runs across the street, almost getting hit by a passing car) Mousse:Akane, I love you!(Hugs Akane in a tight embrace) Akane:Nani? Mousse:I love you, Akane! Akane:(Blushing)Mousse! Mousse:What is it, my love? Akane:Mousse, it's me, Akane. I'm not Shampoo.(Realizes that Mousse's glasses are on) Mousse:I know that, Akane. That's why I'm telling you I love you.(Hugs even tighter) (Akane tries to free herself from Mousse's embrace. But the struggle was useless, Mousse was far stronger than she was. As Mouuse continues to embrace her, Akane feels a bit sad, sad that this wasn't Ranma doing it to her. At the same time, inside the gates, Ranma was still busy sparring with Genma.) Ranma:(Thinking)Hmm.....that's strange. Akane should be home by now. I wonder what's taking her so long.(Dodges Genma's kick) Genma:(Throwing punches)You look distracted, boy.(Dodges Ranma's counterattacks) Ranma:(Hops over sweep)What was that, pop?(Executes a jumpkick) Genma:(Ducking)I said you look distracted.(Throws more punches) Ranma:(Thinking)Man, why should I be distracted? So what if Akane isn't home yet! Who cares where that tomboy is at! (Gent, seeing Ranma totally distracted, lunges forward and punts Ranma with all his might, sending Ranma high into the sky. Unfortunately, Genma kicked so hard that he loses his balance and ends up falling into the pond. Genma, now in panda form, surfaces.) Genma(Panda): (Outside the gate, Akane is still trying to break free of Mousse's death-grip of an embrace. Mousse, hearing nothing but bells in his minds, doesn't hear Akane's warnings.) Akane:Mousse, let go of me! I mean it! this is getting on my nerves! (At that moment, Ranma lands face-first on the ground next to them. The ground shudders at the impact. After a few moments, we see Ranma casually spring back onto his feet. As he starts to dust himself off, he sees Mousse hugging Akane.) Ranma:Mousse, what do you think you're doin'!?! Mousse:What do you think I'm doin'....I'm showing Akane my love for her. Ranma:(Saying anything that came into mind)That's my fiancee your hugging! Akane:(Smiles inwardly)Ranma, please get Mousse off of me! Ranma:I'd be glad to! (Ranma casually grabs hold of one of Akane's arms. With his hand held taut on Akane, Ranma punts Mousse into orbit. Mousse, unable to hold onto Akane because she was being held by Akane, goes into orbit alone.) Ranma:What was all that about? Akane:I don't know.(Realizing something)Did you really mean that? Ranma:Mean what? Akane:That I'm your fiancee. Ranma:Nah, I just said the first thing that came into my mind. If I had time to think, I wouldn't have called a tomboy like you my fiancee? Akane:Oh yeah!(Taking out a mallet)Ranma no BAKA!(Hits Ranma into orbit) (We are now in front of the Nekohanten. We look up into the sky and see Mousse entering the atmosphere. Her falls towards the earth at blinding speed, flailing his arms like a bird....or a duck. but just before he hits the ground face-first, he skillfull twists his body in mid-air and ends up landing perfectly on his feet. High over Mousse's head, we see an unconscious Ranma soaring through the skies, his destination unknown. Mousse casually checks out his surroundings and realizes that he has landed in front of the Nekohanten.) Mousse:Humph. I'm not goin' back in there!(Turns to leave) Shampoo:(Coming out the door)Mousse! Mousse:Oh, it's you.(Turns to leave) Shampoo:Get back here, you have work to do! Mousse:Why should I? All you ever do is boss me around. I'm not goin' to take that anymore.(Leaves) (We see Mousse walk off, in no particular direction.) Shampoo:Mousse, wait. Mousse:What? What do you want now?
