What's with all these World War II games?

What is it with all these World War II (WWII) games we see saturating the gaming market? It's as if every other video game that comes out seems to be a game that is either about WWII or indirectly related to it. Don't get me wrong, WWII was one atrocious war that no one should forget, but seriously, dontcha think the market is replete with WWII-based games already?

How come there seems to be this huge emphasis on it being historically correct, where the developer tries to make its games as realistic as possible? Afterall, the only people who CAN complain about its accuracy are actual WWII veterans. They've been there and can tell you how close to the real thing it is. Funnily enough, it's highly doubtful they'd be playing such games so the point of absolute accuracy is moot.

Okay, I'm sure I'm pissing off a lot of WWII veterans and they're itching to flame me because it seems like I'm mocking their bravery and what they had gone through for our country, but I'm not doing it for shock value. I simply wanted to point out that, to me, there are so many goddamn WWII-type games that the notion of playing yet another WWII game is disconcerting no matter how realistic the game is.

"Those games help show us what kinda troubles these soldiers went through" you say? Sorry, but being able to gun down enemy soldier KNOWING that my getting shot merely decreases my health meter does nothing to show the experience.

Anyway, I think there are too many World War II games out there already and that too many continue to come out.
